Into the Heartland: A Journey Through Mongolia’s Orkhon Valley
From the rivers and mountains of the Orkhon Valley to nomadic family life, ancient sites, and desert landscapes, a small-group pilgrimage into Mongolia’s central heartland and ways of life shaped by a deep relationship to land.
This is not a tour through Mongolia.
An immersive experience in relationship with land, culture, and the living traditions of Mongolia’s central steppe.
A form of pilgrimage, shaped less by destination and more by how one moves, listens, and participates.

How the Journey Unfolds
Rather than moving quickly from place to place, this journey begins by settling into the Orkhon Valley, a landscape of winding rivers, mountains, and seemingly paint-brushed rolling steppe.
From our ger camp, we create a rhythm of yoga, breathwork, meditation, creative practice, and time on the land before setting out on horseback to stay with nearby nomadic families.
For several days, we enter the rhythms of life on the steppe: riding, herding, preparing food, sharing meals, and learning through participation. We then return to our camp to rest, integrate, and gather for a shamanic ceremony.
From the valley, the journey opens outward: to natural hot springs, the ancient capital of Kharkhorin, and the dunes of the Little Gobi, before returning to Ulaanbaatar for a final day with Buddhist lamas, monasteries, and local markets.
A Different Rhythm
There is a natural movement between practice and participation.
Some phases turn inward, through breathwork, meditation, creative practice, solitude, and time on the land.
Others move outward, riding across the steppe, sharing daily life with families, entering ceremony, and encountering Mongolia’s spiritual and cultural traditions.
This rhythm allows the journey to be more than something you move through: it becomes something you begin to relate to.
